Director
Since joining the Oregon Bach Festival as President and Executive Director in 2007, Evans has guided the University of Oregon event to new levels of box office and critical success, expanding its seasonal and geographic reach with broadcasts, year-round programming, concerts in Ashland and Bend, and a summer festival in Portland.
Born and educated in Wales, Evans joined the OBF following a twenty-one-year career with the BBC in London, producing many of its landmark projects, including A Britten Evening, A Bernstein Day (live from New York), and Live from Tanglewood, and rising to head of music policy and production at Radio 3 in 2000. His broadcasting awards include a Sony Gold and a Prix Italia.
A Britten scholar, Evans’s book Journeying Boy: The Diaries of the Young Benjamin Britten was published by Faber and Faber in 2009. In addition to All Classical, he also serves on the boards of the Britten Estate Ltd. and Chorus America.
