106 Keys is a new duo formed by pianist Beth Karp and flutist (Fulbright fellow) Amalia Blumberg to promote Jewish music in Portland. The duo’s repertoire includes classical, jazz, klezmery folk music, minimalism and more written by composers from ancient times to the present day. The pair celebrates the right to experience dynamic, high quality, non-holiday music in December at an affordable cost. This concert features absolutely no holiday music. Rather, the program includes Erwin Schulhoff’s Sonata for Flute and Piano; selections from Reed professor David Schiff’s After Hours Suite; and music by Philip Glass, Darius Milhaud, and Paul BenHaim.
