Back by popular demand, violinist Augustin Hadelich returns to Britt after a stunning debut last summer. Touted by many Britt patrons as one of the best violinists ever to play here, his technical virtuosity and musical brilliance are sure to make his performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto unforgettable. The violin concerto will be preceded by another well-known piece by Finnish master Jean Sibelius, Finlandia. This nationalistic piece of music features the stirring sounds of full brass and celebrates the rich sonorities of the orchestra.
For the big finish, a performance of Dvorak’s New World Symphony, one of the most popular in all Romantic repertoire. A truly “out of this world” piece of America-inspired music, Neil Armstrong took a recording of it along for the first moon landing mission of Apollo 11 in 1969.
