Opening his inaugural season, Music Director Teddy Abrams focuses all attention on the extraordinary Britt Orchestra. He has chosen to showcase the orchestra on opening night with two favorite classics-Stravinsky’s Firebird and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. The concert begins with a new piece of music composed by Abrams this year to commemorate his first season as Britt’s new artistic leader. Stravinsky’s Firebird calls forth the magic and brilliance of its fairy tale inspiration. After intermission the stormy and heroic Fifth Symphony of Beethoven will fill the air with familiar melodies and some of the most beautiful music ever written.
Tickets to a special pre-concert champagne picnic are available for those who’d like to start their opening night festivities with a delicious dinner on the hill catered by Jacksonville Inn.
