Program includes Theofanidis’ Rainbow Body; Mathis der Maler Symphony of Hindemith and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Two German symphonies, written 125 years apart, share a love of life and art. Hindemith’s adaptation of his opera lionizes a 16th-century painter whose elaborate altarpiece has inspired generations, while Beethoven’s propulsive and jubilant score rejoices in dance rhythms. To begin, American composer Chris Theofanidis’ Rainbow Body draws its creative impulse from 12th-century chant but fuses it with 21st-century orchestral texture to capture light and energy in sound. Danail Rachev, conductor. Visit Organizer link to purchase tickets.
