The ensemble performs Tim Sharp’s Come Away to the Skies : A High Lonesome Mass with the composer himself providing bluegrass banjo accompaniment in the piece, which blends Latin text and old time Appalachian folk-hymns. Also on the program is an “Eclectic Mass,” where Director Solveig Holmquist has chosen sections of the traditional mass, each by a different contemporary composer, to form a unique whole. Tickets available at the door and through BoxofficeTickets. com. Additional Note: Tim Sharp is also to giving a presentation, “Banjo-Pickin’ Ringing Through the Pews,” exploring the origins of his bluegrass mass. Festival Chorale will host that talk on Saturday, May 18, at 4:00 pm at the Dye House at the Mill in Salem, with free admission and refreshments.
