Friends of Chamber Music: Fireworks
Fireworks is leading the charge to bring a fresh perspective on chamber music to established audiences, and to create a thrilling experience for new generations of listeners. Calling themselves an indie-classical band, Fireworks defies convention with a jazz-like approach to an extraordinary range of styles. “Adventurous and ahead of the curve… chamber music got a kick in the pants.” The Washington Post
AMERICAN TAPESTRY ties together the richly diverse threads of America’s musical heritage. Jazz and blues rub shoulders with Appalachian bluegrass and country rock. Early American folk songs are juxtaposed with hip hop. Fireworks traces the development of America’s national style from the genteel tunes of Stephen Foster and Edward McDowell, through the early 20th century orchestral masterpieces by Aaron Copland and Charles Ives, to recent minimalist works by Brian Coughlin and Philip Glass.
