This unique festival features national and international performers in a beautiful setting at the tranquil hilltop abbey. Each evening begins with vespers in the Abbey Church at 5:15 p.m., followed by a musical performance. Monks then serve the picnic supper; the evening’s featured classical performance begins at 8 p.m. in the Damian Center.
Wednesday features the Ensemble Caprice, Thursday the award-winning pianist Jean Saulnier, and on Friday, Marcia Hadjimarkos comes from France to play the fortepiano. She will be accompanied by soprano Julianne Baird. In the church on Wednesday, Russian organist Sergey Kirillov, artistic director and principal conductor of the Stavropol Municipal Orchestra, performs. The vocal chamber ensemble Tudor Choir perform Thursday and Friday.
Picnic supper baskets include a bottle of wine and a simple supper for four guests, prepared by Abbey Chef Paul Lieggi. Families and friends can join together, or guests can share a picnic basket with new friends. Blankets and chairs are provided; some guests bring their own lawn chairs and tables.
General admission tickets: $55 each evening, $135 entire festival. Visit Organizer website to purchase tickets, for more information and other ticket options or call 503-845-3064.
