Oregon Jewish Museum: Artist Talk – Alex Hirsch
Alex Hirsch lives in Portland and holds a BA and BFA from the University of Michigan and an MFA from Washington University. Her paintings and glass commissions are held in private, public and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. In describing her artistic practice Hirsch says, “My body of work utters complex tensions between darkness and light, singularity and multiplicity, solemnity and levity.” Her evocative artwork also draws on life practices in dance and meditation. This artist talk is hosted in conjunction with Meditations on Equilibrium: Works in Glass and Paper by Alex Hirsch on exhibit at the Oregon Jewish Museum in the Menashe Gallery from October 9, 2013 to January 5, 2014.
