Marja Kaisla, Finlandia Foundation’s Performer of the Year, offers a recital featuring piano music of Jean Sibelius, Leevi Madetoja, Selim Palmgren, and Einar Englund. Kaisla began playing piano at age three. She studied at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, at St. Petersburg Conservatory, with Gyorgy Sebok in Switzerland and with Susan Starr in Philadelphia, where Kaisla has lived since 1987. She has performed extensively in the U.S., both as a soloist and in ensembles, most often with Trio Excelsior and Piano 4. More information about Kaisla is available online.
