Pianists Colleen M Adent, Christopher Schindler, Anne D. Young and Ruta Kuzmickas perform Mazurkas by Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski and Roman Maciejewski, plus Chopin preludes with dance by Agnieszka Laska Dancers. Brief lecture/demonstration on The Mazurka, its form, history and the composers at hand, by Dr. Kenneth Kleszynski, Professor of Music, University of Portland. Celebration closes with Mazurek cakes, baked by grandmas from the Polish community (each with her own family recipe, each a specialist in Polish cuisine), served with coffee or tea.
