As we close our 90th season we begin with music Brahms wrote for a graduation ceremony in Breslau. Samuel Barber wrote one of the greatest American symphonies while still in his mid-20s. Its compact design contains some of his most beautiful and haunting music. Gustav Holst worked many years of his life in the London district called Hammersmith. His musical portrayal of its lively inhabitants and the nearby Thames River receives its PYP premiere in Holst’s original setting for winds and percussion alone. David Hattner, Musical Director.
