In 1924, G.I. Gurdjieff and his pupil, composer Thomas de Hartmann, began a collaboration which produced a body of piano music only now becoming known in wider musical circles. These compositions range from the arcane mystery of sacred hymns to lighthearted evocations of folk songs. Laurence Rosenthal is an award-winning composer of music for film, stage and television. He has been associated with the Gurdjieff-de Hartmann music for decades and has performed it in public concerts around the world. In this appearance, he plays and discusses many of these compositions.
