The orchestra launches its sixth season with a program featuring Sibelius’ Finlandia; the Spanish-inspired Cello Concerto in d minor by Lalo, with principal cello Katherine Parks as soloist; and Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony. Dancers Sada Naegelin and Mark Koenigsberg are long time members of Portland’s modern dance community. This intimate duet is based upon a simple idea: two people in relationship to one another moving together in space.Long-time Oregon Symphony violist Steve Price accompanies. Highlighting the concert are Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes performed by a quartet and piano four hands and contemporary solos written by Pacific Northwest composers for voice, piano, trumpet and oboe.
