2001: Music from films of Stanley Kubrick

$13 Fair Market Value

Classical music made Stanley Kubrick’s films memorable; at the same time, their use by the visionary director broadened the appreciation for classical works to millions of filmgoers worldwide. “2001: A Space Odyssey” opens with the 2-minute introduction to Richard Strauss’s Thus Spake Zarathustra, and also helped spacecraft orbit in ¾ time to Johann Strauss’s waltz, “On the Beautiful, Blue Danube”. Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” takes on an almost sinister quality in “A Clockwork Orange”. A stately Sarabande by Handel is heard in Barry Lyndon.
