IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Two Little Words

With a mighty effort and help from hundreds of volunteers, our spring drive ended successfully on March 8 at 5 p.m. Our most heartfelt "thank you" goes to 4,068 members who together donated $450,000.

We heard from so many folks who expressed their love for the station in so many ways: Sherry, a school bus driver in Vancouver, who plays the music for 70 children on her bus every day; Joan, who pledged on behalf of two 90 year-olds who listen but can't afford to give; and Adona, who switched from '60s rock to classical and has so much to learn.

You heard the words "thank you" so many times during the drive, but let us say them again. Thank you for listening. Thank you for supporting the music you love. But mostly, thank you for understanding how important this radio service is to the fabric and quality of our lives.

The Receptionist at
Portland Center Stage

It's another day in the office as Beverly the receptionist handles her responsibilities. She's the woman in charge, and she holds her co-workers lives and schedules together until . . .

Portland Center Stage presents The Receptionist, a darkly comic exploration of a seemingly familiar environment, now through March 21 in the Ellyn Bye Studio.

Early Sunday Mornings

Due to popular demand, Millennium of Music will remain in its 8 a.m. time slot. We heard from many devotees of the popular early music program, and decided it made good sense to keep the program at its original time.

Not familiar with the program? Millennium of Music presents the vast scope of great music leading up to the early Baroque. The program features the evolution of sacred music, east and west, live performances by the best ensembles in the field of early music and the ever-growing number of new releases in the field.

Classical Guitar Alive! now airs at 9 a.m. The one-hour program, showcasing the classical repertory of the guitar, presents music and interviews with the world's leading performers and composers and highlights a vast repertoire of music ranging from the early 1500s through present-day solo, chamber and orchestral music with guitar.

So sit back, relax with your morning coffee, and enjoy Sunday mornings with All Classical.

LISTENER FEEDBACK

Rick of Athens, Georgia said: "I think it's wonderful that you reached your $450,000 membership goal. When I started work this morning and heard there was $58,000 to go, I thought no way you could finish. Your audience knows how important you are, and they came through. For what other station do people say they actually enjoy the membership drive? Congratulations, and I'm glad to hear regular programming again."
