Overview

All Classical FM is Portland, Oregon’s classical radio station. Established in 1983, All Classical's mission is to provide classical music and fine arts information to listeners in Northwest Oregon, Southwest Washington and the world via the internet. We strive to increase audiences for local performers and performances, thereby further enhancing the region's cultural environment.

The stations of All Classical rebroadcast the All Classical signal from Portland. Beginning September 2008, All Classical's newest repeater station is 107.1 FM Portland, in a lease partnership with MetroEast Community Media of Gresham.

Classical music for the Hood River area became a reality with the launch of KQHR 90.1FM in November 2001.

All Classical has added its newest permanent station this Halloween, KQDL 88.1 The Dalles. In May 2008, a long-time dream to have a classical station at the Oregon Coast became reality when KQOC 88.1 FM went on the air from Cape Foulweather. Our strongest signal in Oregon, this station reaches Tillamook and Cannon Beach to the north and Yachats to the south.

As non-commercial public radio stations, KQAC, KQHR, KQDL and KQOC rely on listener contributions, which provide over 60% of our budget. We also receive financial support from local businesses and arts organizations that underwrite our programming through on-air sponsorships. Additionally, a small portion of our annual budget comes from various foundation grants and from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Your contribution is held by All Classical Public Media, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving classical music radio and radio broadcast education in Portland. Tax-ID # 93-1042868.

Singular Sensation

The reigning superstar of the violin, Joshua Bell, is in Portland for one night only to help the Oregon Symphony kick off their spectacular 2010/11 concert season.

Conducted by Carlos Kalmar, music for the unforgettable Sept. 16 concert includes the Overture to Carl Nielsen's Maskarade, Aaron Copland's The Tender Land Suite, Edouard Lalo's Symphonie espagnole and George Enescu's Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1.

Moon, Planets & Stars
on Saturday Matinee

As always, the contents of Saturday Matinee are too varied to list, but we can tell you about one portion: A just-released recording of a concert by the Vienna Philharmonic in that city's Schönbrunn Palace, one with a celestial theme that includes performances of music from Star Wars by John Williams, Music of the Spheres by Josef Strauss, and Mars from Gustav Holst's The Planets. Franz Welser-Möst conducts, and Ed Goldberg hosts.

There's bound to be more, since with Saturday Matinee the sky is definitely not the limit. Program airs Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Toledo Art Walk

Toledo, Oregon, is a little town near Newport that hosts an annual Labor Day weekend art walk. Meet nationally awarded and shown artists, Michael Gibbons and Ivan Kelly, and enjoy live music and art talks too.

Extends Masterwork

Artists' Repertory Theatre and the Sydney Theatre Company present Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night. Many consider this play, which features a celebrity cast, to be O’Neill’s masterwork.

Extended through September 5, the play explores a day of conflict in one American family.
