The next Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra concert features Music Director and Conductor finalist Peter Shannon on the podium. The bon bons on the program are the Hungarian March by Berlioz, Amitie by Eugène Ysaÿe, and Navarra by Sarasate—with Oregon Symphony concertmaster Sarah Kwak and her husband Vali Phillips joining in the latter two pieces. The bratwurst of the evening is Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, one of classical music’s most familiar icons. Two performances, May 2 and 4. Information and tickets at PCSO.
