Alexander Korsantia, the piano world’s “quiet maverick” (Daily Telegraph), makes his long-awaited PPI debut with a program contrasting the graceful pianism of Classical Vienna with the ravishing bravura of one of Stravinsky’s most groundbreaking ballets — presented for our audiences in the pianist’s own breathtakingly virtuosic transcription.
A work of great tenderness, Schubert’s Sonata in G Major enchants the listener with serene melodies and moments of effortless, ethereal beauty. And Stravinsky’s Petrushka — with its bustling Shrovetide Fair, replete with acrobats, dancing bears, and magical puppets brought to life — celebrates the collective power of music and dance and the inherent tragedy of love unrequited.
