Portland’s annual celebration of the winter holiday season, the Portland Revels, is bringing back the light this year with story, dance and song in a joyful streaming show that can be viewed from anywhere—with no ticket required. This year marks 26 seasons of the Portland Revels, and the second year that the show can be viewed from the comfort of home.
The Portland Jam is an unprecedented production for the organization, with recorded collaborations from Derrick McDuffey and Kingdom Sound and the Portland Interfaith Gospel Choir. The Revels Chorus and Children’s Chorus fill the show with music from end to end, under the guidance of long-time music director Robert Lockwood and children’s chorus director Regina Pirruccello.
Instead of selling tickets, the show producers will share a link to view the show online to anyone who makes a donation to the Portland Revels through the end of 2021. The show is appropriate for people of all ages, and the at-home viewing makes it a good option for younger kids who may not sit through an in-person show. It also makes it accessible to Revels fans worldwide. Last year’s streaming show drew viewers from 79 cities in 33 states and six countries.
