Portland Wind Symphony opens the 2026-27 season with a concert titled “New Era” – celebrating
both music written within the past 20 years, as well as the formal introduction of newly appointed Artistic Director/Conductor Danielle Davey. The program sparkles with the Latin-American fusion of “Downey Overture”, by Oscar Navarro. “Big Four on the River”, by James M. David, was inspired by the rich cultural heritage of cities like New Orleans, where jazz played a strong role.

Also included in the program: “Give Us This Day”, by David Maslanka, a piece the composer hopes will inspire a future based on world peace; “Let Me Be Frank With You”, by John Mackey, “three minutes of joyful fun”…and lots more! The Lake Oswego High School band, under the direction of Kevin Rouse, will also perform.
