The public is invited to a “Concert of Sacred Music at the Abbey” given by the Willamette Master Chorus.
The 80-voice chorus will offer sacred works that include movements of a Latin mass by composers such as Giovanni Palestrina, Franz Schubert, and Josef Rheinberger. A new setting of the “Ave Maria” by Father Teresio Caldwell will be premiered as well as a version of the “Magnificat” by chorus member Chris Jones.
Music from the psalms will be offered as well as a spiritual by Moses Hogan. Also, to be premiered, is a Southern Harmony setting of the “Morning Trumpet” by David Schmidt. The concert will be co-directed by Artistic Director/Conductor Paul Klemme and Founding Director Wallace Long.
