Third Angle New Music returns to New Expressive Works to present The Goddess—a film screening with a reimagined soundtrack performed live by pipa virtuoso Min Xiao-Fen and guitarist Rez Abbasi. In place of the film’s original orchestral score, this new soundtrack combines musical influences from traditional Chinese, modern jazz, and contemporary classical genres. The innovative composition highlights the surprisingly modern subject matter of the 1934 silent film that depicts a single mother supporting herself as a streetwalker to provide a better life for her son.

Third Angle will present The Goddess at 7:30pm March 2-3 at New Expressive Works, with Audio Descriptions available on the 3rd.
