Event Details

Composer-in-Residence Osvaldo Golijov joins the festival for their second weekend, with a live performance in the barrel room on Saturday, August 14th at J. Christopher Wines in Newberg, OR. The concert explores notions of light and dark, and will center around two very different examples of Golijov’s compositional voice: the world premiere of mentre la pioggia, a string quintet inspired by Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto, and his large scale epic, The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind, for string quartet and Klezmer clarinet. The performance will feature Oregon Symphony principal clarinetist James Shields, and take the listener on a passionate journey exploring the extraordinary life of Isaac the Blind, a 13th century Kabbalist rabbi of Provence. The program also includes Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s touching final work Movement for String Trio, dictated from his death bead, and Haydn’s glorious “Sunrise” Quartet.

In-person are available at Due to Covid safety measures, seating capacity is extremely limited. In-person tickets are $95 for general admission and include a special three-wine tasting paired with each program.
