The 5th season of Portland’s Zephyr Clarinet Choir continues with it’s Winter Concert, conducted by its founder, Barbara Heilmair, and featuring guest artist Virginia Figueiredo, performing the Debussy “Premiere Rhapsody”. Other pieces on the program are “Masques et Bergamasques” by Faure, “Pickles and Peppers Rag” by Adaline Shepard and “Pie in the Face” by Mancini from “The Great Race”, both set for the clarinet choir by the choirs own resident composer/arranger John Gibson. Mr. Gibson has also composed the opening selection just for the choir, called “Acclaim, A Fanfare”.
Performance is Sunday, January 30 at 3pm in Cramer Hall on the PSU campus. Street and structure parking are available. Following a break, a masterclass and workshop for all clarinetists will be held at 5pm, featuring Virginia Figueiredo.
