1942 Christmas From Home – WWII Musical Play

The 1942 Christmas From Home play is a historic reenactment of a WWII radio show from 1942 as it would have been performed live on stage in Portland, Oregon. It is the second in a five year series of plays (1941-45), and includes authentic sound effects, costumes, live music and sketches combined with real stories from NW troops and the local news of the day. The plays were written by NW author Pat Kruis Tellinghusen.┬áThe 1942 play highlights the 75th anniversary of events playing out in WWII, including the little-known story of a bombing that happened on our Oregon shores near Astoria. This was also the year that women began to enter the factories and “Rosie The Riveter” became popular.

Ralph Radio Theatre was formed in memory of local actor and radio personality Ralph “Radio” Steadman.
