Amber Waves of Grain

The Clark College Concert Choir and Concert Band join forces for an incredible concert. Each ensemble will perform its own set of music that celebrates our rich heritage, and then combine for Mansions of the Lord and America the Beautiful to close out the concert. The Concert Choir will perform a set of Americana choral music, featuring works by William Billings, Shawn Kirchner, and William Hawley. Some of the tunes date all the way back from the American Revolution, while some are newly-arranged and composed. A highlight of the Clark College Concert Band will be the premiere of It’s Rich, a piece composed for the Clark College Concert Band by Clark Music Professor Dr. Don Appert, and dedicated to the memory of his own father. Another selection you won’t want to miss will be a performance of the epic symphonic scenario for band, Victory at Sea, composed by Richard Rodgers and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett for the 1952 WWII television documentary.

“We are particularly excited about this concert,” says Jacob Funk, Director of Choirs. “Not only is it the last concert for these ensembles of the school year, but it’s also the last performance led by my esteemed colleague Richard Inouye. This will be a fantastic and heartfelt concert.” Richard Inouye, who has served as the Director of Bands at Clark College for the last 11 years, will be retiring at the end of this academic year.

Admission is free.
