Mock’s Crest Opera presents Light in the Piazza
The Light in the Piazza is a contemporary musical operetta based on a 1962 film of the same name, and like all of Gilbert and Sullivan’s shows, it’s about true love. Follow Clara and her mother Margaret through Italy as they tackle love, family, and their relationship as mother and daughter. This year’s show takes a step away from our typical productions of Gilbert & Sullivan (don’t worry -we will return to G & S next summer with a production of The Mikado.)
Directed by Bruce Hostetler; Produced by Lawrence Larsen
Mocks Crest is a semi-professional company devoted to a yearly summer production of comic light opera, primarily the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan, that combines professional singers and musicians with the students, faculty and staff in the Department of the Performing and Fine Arts at the University of Portland.
