Puerto Rico Fundraiser Concert
Featuring Maria Garcia, pianist; Lisa Lee, violinist and Valdine Mishkin, cellist.
Maria Garcia began studying piano in her native Puerto Rico at the age of four, making her debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra at the age of ten. Now a Portlander, she’s best known as one half of the XX Digitus Piano Duo which has been praised as “Dynamite, Dynamic and Impressive” by the press.
Lisa Lee made her solo debut with the San Francisco Symphony at age 16 and has since appeared as soloist with the Pacific Symphony, and Opole Philharmonic of Poland. Lisa Lee toured numerous years with the Mahler Chamber, Norwegian Chamber, and the Luzerne Festival orchestras.
Valdine Mishkin is a diverse musician, recognized both as a gifted cello teacher of all aged and an avid solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. Valdine teaches at Willamette University and her home studio, plays as substitute cellist with the Oregon Symphony, and performs in recital and live radio on All Classical Portland.
United for Puerto Rico is an initiative brought forth by the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rossello, in collaboration with the private sector, with the purpose of providing aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. 100% of the proceeds will go to helping the victims affected by these natural disasters in Puerto Rico.
