John Pitman Review: Guitarist Sharon Isbin

Following soon on the heels of her recording with Pacifica Quartet (Souvenirs of Spain and Italy), American guitarist Sharon Isbin has been keeping busy talking about not one, but two new recordings: Affinity, and Strings for Peace. The former is a showcase of works written for Isbin by composers from all around the world. Affinity is the name of a new concerto written by Chris Brubeck (son of jazz great Dave). Strings for Peace is a beautiful expression of hope for peace by Isbin and a family of musicians in India, headed by sarod player, Amjad Ali Khan, and his two sons. Host John Pitman chats with Ms. Isbin about both, which are shared on our station SoundCloud page as separate audio files. Listen to Strings for Peace on this page, above.
