45th Parallel Social Distance Ensemble

The Portland Social Distance Ensemble is an experiment in building community through collaboration, a place where artists can safely come together to do their part in making the world a better place.

45th Parallel Universe will be presenting weekly live streamed performances every Friday @ 6 PM PDT, featuring talented musicians who are eager to get back to the business of creating new musical art. Each performer participates remotely from their homes, with their playing combined into a unified performance using innovative technology designed by Friend of 45th Parallel Danny Rosenberg.

September 11: This Friday’s live stream features Convergence, a live multi-continental chamber music concert performed by pianist Maria Garcia (Portland), violinist Tom Norris (London), and cellist Jozef Lupták (Bratislava). Their program features piano trios by Joseph Haydn, Astor Piazzolla, and “Talizman” by Slovak composer Vladimír Godár, performed in honor of 9/11.

September 18: 45th Parallel Universe joins forces with Albuquerque-based Chatter to perform Frederic Rzewski’s Coming Together. Join them on Facebook or Youtube!

45th Parallel has also been performing in small groups for a few socially distanced backyard concerts on Sunday evenings as well;  audience members can find out more about these concerts by joining their mailing list here.
