Jack Allen, President & CEO of All Classical Portland for the past nine years, is retiring from the station to pursue personal projects. Under Jack Allen’s guidance, the station re-branded and created unique marketing initiatives and partnerships. He developed strategies that dramatically grew audience and revenue, and his vision fostered the organization’s commitment to “building cultural community.” Jack led the station through a period of modernization, and moved the classical service to newly designed, state-of-the-art facilities in the Hampton Opera Center. In creating radio programs such as On Deck with Young Musicians and Thursdays @ Three, and nationally syndicating the weekly film music program The Score with Edmund Stone, he helped develop listeners’ love of this music across the country and beyond.
Under Jack’s creative leadership, the station has risen to become one of the top performing non-commercial classical stations in the United States; the station and board are deeply grateful for all that Jack has done. Suzanne Nance, Vice President of Programming and On Air Host, is acting as interim CEO. A public celebration of Jack’s many contributions to the station and the community will be announced at a later date.
