The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Fall Concert is a virtual celebration of music, featuring a curated program that allows for a unique collaboration and interconnection between MYS ensembles.
Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suites No. 1 and 2 will be performed by seven MYS ensembles in a seamless flow to match Ibsen’s original play, with added narration recorded by students. And the grand finale, Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, will be performed by all MYS ensembles to make up a virtual orchestra of hundreds of young musicians. The concert will also highlight music by American composers Florence Price and William Grant Still, and special performances by MYS ensembles including Jazz Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, and MYSticks Percussion Ensemble.
