Join host Brandi Parisi for our next Oregon Symphony broadcast, airing Thursday, April 19th at 7pm. In March, violinist Vadim Gluzman returned to Oregon to play Brahms’ Violin Concerto with the Oregon Symphony. One of the greatest violin concertos ever written, Brahms’ work is a stunning display of the violin’s emotional and virtuosic qualities. A colleague of Brahms’ exclaimed, “It is a concerto for violin against the orchestra – and the violin wins!” That concert also included the Pulitzer-prize winning “Requiem” Symphony by Walter Piston and a tone poem by Dvořák based on the folk legend of the Water Goblin. This performance is conducted by Carlos Kalmar.
