Under the baton of Maestro Yaacov Bergman, Portland Chamber Orchestra’s 2021-22 season is brought to a spectacular close with the world premiere of Celilo Falls: We Were There. Through personal recollections and powerful poetry, acclaimed traditional storyteller Ed Edmo takes listeners on a musical journey through the history of Celilo Falls, portraying the experience of the Native Americans who lost not only their livelihoods but their cultural home for millennia when the Dalles Dam flooded the Falls in 1957. Captivating photographic images by Joe Cantrell offer striking accompaniment to this compelling story.

Written by renowned composer and cellist Nancy Ives, Celilo Falls: We Were There carries on her own family’s tradition of working with indigenous communities to authentically capture, amplify and relay their stories to wider audiences. Tickets on sale now.

Concerts will be performed June 4th at Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, June 5th at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, and June 11th at the Grenada Theater in The Dalles. Learn more at portlandchamberorchestra.org
