Portland Chamber Orchestra under the baton of music director Yaacov Bergman will perform “United We Rise.” This concert at the New Song Community Church will offer the Portland premiere of “I Rise,” a new work by American composer Charles Creasy based on the riveting poem by Maya Angelou. This powerful composition for soprano solo, strings and piano will be sung by internationally acclaimed Portland native Nicole Greenidge. Also included in the program is the Shabâvâ Ensemble with instruments and music from far reaches of the world, and the sensuous and seductive character composition by Astor Piazzolla “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.” This masterpiece for solo violin and strings inspired by the compelling rhythm of the tango will be performed by Portland State University’s new violin professor, Argentine Tomás Cotik.
