Portland Opera When the Sun Comes Out

In a place and time where gender expression is oppressed by the state—and being gay is a death sentence—following your heart can mean risking everything. It is here that Solana finds her lost love Lilah, who is now a wife and mother. In reunion, they unearth secrets from the past, fight for a new future, and remind us all that love is love. This striking and poetic piece from 2013 features a quintet of violin, cello, flute, clarinet, and piano. When the Sun Comes Out was commissioned by the Vancouver Queer Arts Festival.
