Fingers holding paying cards

“Wolves Eat Elk” is a play by M.J. Kaufman. Alex, a forester and soil scientist, while returning home to his boyfriend after a summer of dissertation research, finds himself inexplicably plunged into a surreal world of the Elk Kingdom. The Elk present him with task before he can continue home: tame the wolf that is threatening their herd. Wolves Eat Elk, a finalist for the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s 2015 Playwrights Conference, and listed on the Kilroys the same year, is a poetic exploration of the meaning of home. As Alex wrestles with the Elks’ request, his choice will determine the fate of the Elk Kingdom as well as his own.
