push/FOLD dance presents Early, an evening-length world premiere dance performance, sponsored by the Regional Arts & Culture Council. Featuring the vision of composer-choreographer Samuel Hobbs, Early crafts an intimate world of creation and destruction. With sweeping visuals and palpable acoustics, “…its mood like a modern-day Haydn” (Bob Hicks, Oregon ArtsWatch), the athletic and physical movement-partnering of Portland’s contemporary dance company push/FOLD magnifies the sensations of tension and release. Performed in the round, audiences are enveloped in a minimal landscape of pure movement, light, and sound. Original sound score, choreography, lighting, and set design created by Samuel Hobbs. Performances take place April 19-21 & 26-28 all at 7:30pm at the A-WOL Warehouse in Portland. An Artist Talk and Q&A facilitated by Emily Running of Portland’s DanceWire will occur on April 19 and April 28 following the show. Learn more and purchase tickets at the push/FOLD website. Performances are artistic events, and contain nudity.
