Chien-Kim-Watkins Trio: Smetana & Dvořák

Two seasons ago, the Chien-Kim-Watkins Trio brought enthusiastic audiences to their feet with their monumental performance of Beethoven’s complete Piano Trio Cycle–so epic that it spanned three concerts. This season, they are sure to thrill us once again! This trio comprises some of classical music’s most highly esteemed artists performing today: CMNW Artistic Directors pianist Gloria Chien and violinist Soovin Kim with cellist Paul Watkins (formerly of the Emerson Quartet). The trio will present two of chamber music’s most thrilling, Bohemian-inspired masterpieces including Smetana’s lushly Romantic Piano Trio in G Minor and Dvořák’s richly expressive Piano Trio in F Minor, which is widely regarded as his most “Brahmsian” masterpiece.
