“One of the most thoughtful and sensitive of British pianists” (The Times), Mishka Rushdie Momen marks her PPI debut with a program weaving keyboard music of the English Renaissance with personal, poignant works spanning three centuries.
From the jubilant sounds of church bells to a moving lament, the music of William Byrd evokes cinematic colors and intimate emotions that are mirrored in variations Mendelssohn penned to honor Beethoven after his death. And Rushdie Momen displays her refined, expressive playing in selections from Prokofiev’s Visions fugitives — mesmerizing miniatures that hover between dreamscapes and reality — while Schubert’s towering C Minor Sonata offers a journey of radiant hope and disquieting despair.
Single ticket prices:
Keyboard view $55
Non-keyboard view $45

One of Shakespeare’s earliest and most controversial comedies, The Two Gentlemen of Verona follows best friends Valentine and Proteus as they search for their place in the world. Set during the California Gold Rush, this production shines a light on the often forgotten queer history of the Wild West. What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want? How far will you go to be with the people you love?

Hosted by Big Mouth’s very own drag sensation Betty Poops, with support from Artistic Director Emily Lau, Queer & Dear weaves together rich choral harmonies, instrumental melodies, spirited drag artistry, and the diverse creativity of our queer collaborators.
Queer & Dear: Echoes of Queerness through Song and Sequins beckons attendees into a sonic tapestry like no other. Drawing on profound insights from our LGBTQIA+ predecessors, we proudly spotlight the poignant works of historic queer composers and the innovative brilliance of contemporary queer voices. Along with commissioned works by local composers Drew Swatosh and Jesse Ehrenberg, we will present music by Samuel Barber, Melissa Dunphy, Joshua Shenk, Given, Dolly Parton, Bryce Caster, Craig Hella Johnson, and Pauline Oliveros.

Harry James was eight when he learned to play trumpet. He joined the Ben Pollack group and moved on to three successful years with Benny Goodman before founding Harry James and his Music Makers. He gave a young Frank Sinatra his first job and first million-seller hit with All or Nothing at All. He launched the careers of Big Band vocalists Connie Haines, Helen Forrest, and Kitty Callen for which he produced a string of hits including I’ll Get By, I Don’t Want to Walk Without You, I Cried for You, and I Had the Craziest Dream. Under the direction of Fred Radke, who played lead trumpet with Harry James this is the only Big Band era orchestra that maintains a direct line back to its founder.

Let the sunshine in! With an iconic score that changed pop culture forever, HAIR is as relevant today as it was when it radicalized a generation in 1968. This revolutionary rock musical tells the story of a group of counter-culturalists whose worlds are shaken when one of them receives his draft notice for the Vietnam War. Exploring ideas of identity, free love, community, global responsibility, and peace, HAIR reminds us that history is never far away — and that our collective voice is a powerful tool for change.
