Bach’s Mass in B minor is widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements of choral music. Over the last 25 years of his life, Bach combined several of his favorite cantatas into a masterpiece designed to showcase his life’s work, incorporating a variety of musical styles, and influencing generations of composers.

Featured speaker Dr. Daniel Melamed is professor emeritus of music in musicology at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. His research interests focus on J. S. Bach, Mozart-era opera, and music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He is a past president of the American Bach Society and director of the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project.
