Festival Chorale Oregon: Harmonies of the Heart

Festival Chorale Oregon presents Harmonies of the Heart concert at the historic Elsinore Theatre, under the direction of Dr. Solveig Holmquist.

Experience an afternoon of radiant choral music exploring many moods of love. The concert opens with Brahms’ enthralling Liebeslieder Waltzes, a collection of love songs in Ländler style for voices and piano four hands. The 18 short waltz movements encompass a variety of emotions and moods. The music comes to life with collaborative pianists Anne Britt and Amy Harris. The delightful concert includes a variety of other short pieces reflecting various emotions of love ranging from flirtation, longing, loss, and utter adoration. Nicole Peldyak, soprano, and William Velez, tenor, are featured soloists. The program ends with Wedding Cantata by Daniel Pinkham, based on words from the biblical Song of Solomon. This 1959 composition explores many facets of love including invitation, strength, joy together, and constancy.
