Salem Philharmonia Orchestra Presents “Rediscovering Marie Jaëll” February 15 and 16, directed by SPO Artistic Director, Jonathan DeBruyn and featuring Portland-based world-class cellist, Diane Chaplin. The concerts begin with Georges Bizet’s charming orchestral “Petite Suite: Jeux d’Enfants”, followed by French Romantic-period composer Marie Jaëll’s “Cello Concerto in F Major”.
After intermission, the orchestra plays W. A. Mozart’s “Symphony No. 38” (“Prague”) and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s energetic “Capriccio Espagnol” orchestral suite. The Saturday, February 15 concert begins at 7:00 PM, and the Sunday, February 16 concert begins at 2:00 PM. Maestro DeBruyn’s preconcert talks begin 45 minutes before each concert.
Salem Phil’s venue is the East Salem Community Center, 1850 45th Ave. NE, Salem , OR 97305. Admission: $23 (Adults ages 18-64); $20 (Students 18-64/Srs. 65+); $0 (children/youth through age 17).
