“Beauty in Simplicity” looks at the seemingly simple works of the Classical period and American Minimalism, examining the breadth of expression from humble building blocks. Opening with the Italian-inspired “Sinfonia in C” of Marianna Martines, we move to the meditative and dramatic third String Quartet of Philip Glass from the score of the film “Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters”. The concert concludes with Haydn’s final and glorious “Symphony #104” – which many call his crowning achievement in the form – and a work never to be missed.
