In the frame of the Portland Winter Light Festival, a follow-up to Ombra Musici II, this time brings the audience inside the hall to experience the music for solo violin with lights effects inside PSU’s Lincoln Recital Hall; this time live, with magical visual effects. Initially propelled by pandemic restrictions in the arts, Tomás Cotik turned to record solo violin works by Telemann and Bach. Now he looks forward to sharing these works with live audiences and presenting his new albums in Concert. In his performance of Baroque music, Tomás features his research and knowledge of historical performance practice coupled with a hybrid approach to performing these works using a modern violin setup and Baroque bow, reassessing performance fashions and bringing meaningful concepts in an enjoyable and accessible way. The Concert will feature Bach’s Partita N. 2 for solo violin – with its famous Ciaccona -, a Cello Suite transcription, and Telemann Fantasias for Solo Violin. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 8 pm at Lincoln Recital Hall.
