All Classical Radio celebrates the 10th anniversary of On Deck with Young Musicians by following up with 10 of the musicians who were interviewed in the first season of the show. The series is hosted by All Classical intern Jahlysa Azaret.
Daniel Rodricks is a resident physician and pianist based in Newport News, Virginia. In this bonus “Where Are They Now” episode Daniel shares his thoughts about his past interview and the moving impact it made. We also discuss more about his gratitude toward his community in supporting him with his career and the importance of maintaining music in one’s life.

Dr. Daniel Rodricks is a resident physician going into the field of diagnostic radiology. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Music, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Dallas, and an MD with Honor from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He is currently completing a transitional year internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia, and will return to Baylor College of Medicine in 2024 to begin radiology training.
Daniel has a long-standing love and appreciation for classical music; he has played piano since the age of 6 and spent many years studying piano performance with Shirley Brendlinger in Happy Valley, Oregon. He is a two-time winner of the Trula Whelan Concerto competition, a winner of the OMTA Lillian Pettibone scholarship competition, and a 2015 winner of the MetroArts Young Artists Debut, where he performed Rhapsody in Blue with members of the Oregon Symphony and Oregon Ballet Theater Orchestra under the baton of Neil DePonte.
