All Classical Radio celebrates the 10th anniversary of On Deck with Young Musicians by following up with 10 of the musicians who were interviewed in the first season of the show. The series is hosted by All Classical intern Jahlysa Azaret.

Anna Louise is an opera singer based Rochester, New York. In our seventh episode, she shares her thoughts on her interview from 10 years ago and also talks about her work with nonprofits to create positive change in the arts community. Anna Louise also shares advice with young musicians on finding a community of trusted advisors.

The following is Anna Louise’s 2023 bio:

Anna Louise is a dynamic professional with a passion for music leadership, business, and project management. In 2021, she founded Rochester Summer Opera, offering free performance opportunities to students and making opera accessible to Rochester. In Summer 2023, her production “Opera Under the Stars” presented 80 musicians to an audience of over 700 people. She currently serves as Executive Assistant to Michael Kaiser at the DeVos Institute of Arts Management and is a proud board member and Director of Operations for The Plimpton Foundation.

Additionally, Anna Louise is the production manager for the upcoming opera “Macabéa” by Suzanne Farin, premiering in São Paulo in 2025. She has administrative experience from organizations like Ravinia Festival, Portland Opera, and Portland Summerfest, and has held roles as a Program Assistant at The Institute of Music Leadership and a Project Coordinator for Sing for Hope.

As a performer, Anna Louise has portrayed notable roles, including Giunone in Cavalli’s “La Calisto,” Dorothée in Bologne’s “L’amant Anonyme,” and Jenna in Anthony Davis’s “Lear on the Second Floor.” Her diverse repertoire also includes being a featured soloist in Mozart’s “Mass in C Minor” in 2021 and various other memorable roles, such as La Fée in Massenet’s “Cendrillon” and Greta Fiorentino in Kurt Weill’s “Street Scene.”

Anna Louise holds a Master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music and graduated Cum Laude in Vocal Performance and Business from DePauw University.
