“Aruna” translates literally to “red, ruddy, tawny”– a succinct descriptor of the dust storms and sprawling, flatland sunsets that visually define the quartet’s West Texas origins. The Aruna Quartet has been awarded prizes at numerous national and international competitions including the Gold Medal and Grand Prize at the 46th Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The group is now based in Central Texas where it cultivates curiosity in audiences with interesting pairings of classical, contemporary and folk music.
