Stephanie & Saar, Chintimini Chamber Music Festival
June 22, 2023: Host Christa Wessel welcomes Stephanie & Saar and the Chintimini Chamber Music Festival to the Roger O. Doyle performance studio.
Stephanie & Saar will preview the upcoming Makrokosmos Project, a festival bringing cutting-edge contemporary American music to urban settings. The project includes a world premiere by Kenji Bunch, and an Oregon premiere by Adam Schoenberg.
The Chintimini Chamber Music Festival, built around classical performers from around the
world who grew up in the mid-Willamette Valley, will showcase some of their upcoming events and performances.
Pianists Stephanie Ho and Saar Ahuvia collaborate as DUO Stephanie and Saar in dazzling performances filled with visceral excitement, elegance and artistic vision. Recent performances include their Lincoln Center debut with Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring; collaboration with Philadelphia’s Orchestra 2001 in a complete performance of Frank Zappa’s The Yellow Shark and Symphony Space’s Wall to Wall Bernstein, a marathon celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th anniversary.
While pursuing graduate studies at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Stephanie and Saar were inspired by Leon Fleisher to explore the Beethoven string quartets in a duo piano setting. The duo, who are married to each other, reside in New York City. Outdoor enthusiasts, they recently completed the 93-mile Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier.

The Chintimini Chamber Music Festival started in 2001 and has been held annually (except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The Festival was the brilliant idea of our Artistic Director, Erik Peterson, and his wish to return to his hometown and play chamber music with musicians he knew while growing up in the mid-Willamette Valley. Early supporters were Joan Caldwell and Charles Creighton.
